Magnolia Gardens
5233 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC 28216
Project Summary
Beatties Ford Road has served as a central artery for Charlotte’s African American community since Johnson C. Smith University’s founding in 1876, spurring the surrounding West End growth into one of the city’s most vibrant Black neighborhoods. Years of underinvestment eventually led the City of Charlotte to designate the road and one of its official Corridors of Opportunity, targeting the area for renewed public and private investment. Magnolia Gardens sits along that same stretch of road, giving Charlotte’s aging population safe, affordable housing amid a growing citywide shortage. The 82-unit senior community was built using Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, creating secure, accessible, and budget-friendly living options for older adults seeking to age within the community they call home.
