82 Homes, Two Cities, One Big Win for Affordable Housing

Mosaic Development Group is excited to announce that we have received an award of 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, paving the way for the preservation of 82 units of affordable rental housing across Charlotte and Mooresville, North Carolina.

These awards mark an important milestone in Mosaic’s ongoing mission to preserve affordable housing in communities facing rising costs and rapid growth — ensuring that long-time residents have the opportunity to remain in the neighborhoods they call home.

Cherry Gardens (Charlotte, NC) — 42 units preserved

Situated in one of Charlotte’s historically Black neighborhoods, Cherry Gardens plays an important role in helping long-time residents stay in the community they’ve built their lives in, even as the surrounding area has changed dramatically amid the city’s growth. Preserving this property helps protect the character and continuity of a neighborhood with deep roots and rich history.

Curlin Commons (Mooresville, NC) — 40 units preserved

Curlin Commons will preserve 40 units of affordable rental housing for the community. We’re especially grateful to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte for their support in making this project possible — their contribution of land was instrumental in bringing this preservation effort to life.

Both projects were made possible with funding from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA), a partnership that reflects what strategic public investment can accomplish when paired with mission-driven development. Together, these awards represent Mosaic’s continued commitment to preserving affordable housing where it’s needed most, and to standing alongside the residents and communities who depend on it.
