Grand Opening at Fernhill Apartments

On November 22nd, Mosaic was thrilled to gather with project residents, partners, funders and State and local leaders in Conover, NC to celebrate the official grand opening of Fernhill Apartments. This 72-unit community brings much needed high-quality affordable housing for low-income and working families in the broader Conover area.

Speakers included Tom Smith, a Conover native and board member of the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, Mayor Kyle Hayman of Conover, and Mosaic Executive Director, Bill Bolstad.

During the opening ceremonies, the great need for more affordable housing like Fernhill was echoed by all three speakers. According to research by the North Carolina Housing Coalition, in Catawba County alone, where Fernhill is located, nearly 14,000 households are overburdened by the cost of housing and nearly 40% of renters have difficulty affording their homes.

“At Mosaic, we are constantly aware of the importance of housing to all of us, regardless of your income level,” stated Bolstad. “The need is great and growing stronger across our state every day. That is why housing, like Fernhill Apartments, is such an important investment for our communities.”

Mosaic extends its heartfelt thanks to the City of Conover and to our partners and funders for their support of Fernhill Apartments.
